The little things have the biggest impact

Think about it. When’s the last time you sent a thank-you note to someone? On paper— a quick email or text doesn’t count!

Sometimes the best marketing strategies, which we’re going to list below, are just things your mom made you do when you were young, like being honest, standing up straight and, yes, writing thank-you notes.

Writing Thank-you notes

Research says most of us vastly underestimate the power of showing gratitude to someone. Being grateful and showing gratitude to people has been known to increase a person’s overall happiness and mental health. 
In the business world, it indicates to your clients that you care about each and every one of them. When you take the time to write them a note of thanks instead of dashing off a quick and automated email, it makes your connection more personal.

Standing up straight 

There are a variety of benefits to standing up straight, both personally and professionally. Personally it helps your overall present and future health, by working your core muscles and keeping your spine aligned. 
Professionally, it helps your clothes look better, it makes you seem more confident and gives you increased energy. There are little things you can do to help your posture like situating your computer at eye-level so you’re not always looking down. You can also remember before going into a meeting to take a deep breath, lift your shoulders up and then put them down and back.

Being honest 

As people say, honesty is the best policy. But people don’t often do that for three main reasons: the impact of truth on themselves, on others and on their business. Which is where you come in. People trust and want to work with people who are truly authentic and give them real answers. When customers ask you questions, tell them the honest answers, even when they’re not necessarily positive. If you don’t know the answer, tell them that too— don’t try to answer something you know nothing about.

Even if you think telling the truth might diminish your business’s success, try to tell the truth and then add a positive comparison to it. For example, if someone doesn’t want to buy a house because it’s close to everything they need but also close to railroad tracks, note that the train going by will be loud, but the convenience of being centrally located will be worth it in the long run.

Giving back 

People connect to people who give back. Think of something you are personally passionate about, whether that’s animal treatment, women’s rights, or curing cancer, and make your business fit into that passion. 
Creating a charity event, or partnering with one, puts your business front and center as a supporter of a good cause. You’ll get a lot of positive press for this, too,  which usually leads to new customers. Millennials—aka the next group to enter into the real estate market—  prefer to work with companies who give back to a cause.

Exude confidence 

Confidence is key when it comes to selling yourself and your business. You know what you’re talking about, so you should show it. Stand up straight, speak smoothly with easy-to-understand information and answer questions honestly. If you need a little help along the way, write down a list of things that show your expertise for people to look at. If you really need some help, practice speaking a little bit. Practice always makes things perfect.
