Social Media: It’s All About Authenticity

People love social media of all kinds: 73% of U.S. adults use Youtube, 69% of U.S. adults use Facebook, 37% of U.S. adults use Instagram. You get the idea? Social media connects people worldwide, allowing them to spread whatever message they want. And as a marketer, wouldn’t it be great if they were sharing YOUR message, brand or business? Here’s how to achieve genuine, appropriate sharing on social media—and the (positive) effect it could have on your brand.

Achieving sharing

There are multiple ways to make your social media the type of platform people come to for content and interaction with a brand that cares.

Engage them regularly

Regularly doing Facebook Lives or Q&A videos keeps your clients engaged and aware of what’s going on with you and your business. It’s a term called social listening. It’s also a good idea to create polls or rating scales on your Instagram stories to capture how people feel about the look of a home or if they would live there. People like to feel involved in a company.

Have a theme

Once you’ve nailed down your brand and the colors associated with it, think about if all of your photos will have similar effects or filters. Consistency keeps people attracted to your feed and makes everything flow seamlessly together. You want all of your platforms to match and then connect back to your website.

Be genuine

Don’t put on some fake persona or try to act like you’re something you’re not. Be real and raw with your clients so they know they can trust you to always be authentic. When people buy a home, they just want to know they are getting the truth and are working with someone who truly cares about them. Showcase this on your platforms!

Support a cause

People are more likely to connect with businesses that support some type of cause that connects with their community. An example for real estate would be after you sell a certain number of homes, you partner with a community group to build a home for a family in need. It shows people you have compassion and are, at the end of the day, a good person.

The positive effect

Having a stellar social-media marketing strategy has its benefits.

  1. It’s fast and inexpensive. It takes a few extra minutes a day to tweet a catchy quote or snap a picture of a community event you were a part of.
  2. It brings in a wider variety of clients. With over 40% of the population using social media every day, your future clients can be from a wide array of lifestyles.
  3. It increases your website traffic. If you post something catchy, be sure you link to your website in your biography so people can check you out. People like to discover new things, especially those shared by family and friends.
  4. It generates new leads. New people and possible clients will find your posts and come to follow you. No need to go looking for them. Create impactful posts, and they’ll come to you.

We could go on because there are so many positive effects, but you get the point. It’s an investment in your business’s future.
